Q: What are Inktober and Inktober Tangles?

Inktober is a month-long drawing challenge that takes place every October, where artists create and share an ink drawing each day. The challenge was created by artist Jake Parker in 2009 to help him improve his ink skills and develop good drawing habits.

Inktober Tangles is also an online challenge that combines the Inktober and Zentangle art techniques, Certified Zentangle Teacher Stephanie Jennifer provides the prompts for the challenge, starting from 2015.

So, Inktober and Inktober Tangles are both online challenges that involve artists creating drawings in October based on the prompts.

Q: How have I challenged myself in the last few years based on prompts?

I used Jake Parker’s prompt in Inktober 2020, created all artworks on separate sheets of paper, and used various inks.

In 2021, I used Stephanie Jennifer’s prompts and Opus tile from Zentangle, added one tangle a day on the same tile, and attempted the challenge.

In 2022, I prepared all the prompts on Bijou tiles and used Zentangle original tiles to create artwork based on those prompts.

In Inktober Tangles 2023, I prepared all the prompts on Bijou tiles and used 14x17 inch mixed media paper to create the artwork.
